Level Up KL 2018: Sony, Microsoft & Other Top Developers To Share Insights In Asian Game Development Industry

As we’re approaching the Level Up KL 2018 Conference in Bangsar South this week, the premier game industry event is getting bigger than ever, with two full days of the conference featuring outstanding speakers and pioneering companies from all over the world to discuss the prominent game development industry in Malaysia and Southeast Asia.

The fourth-year return of Level UP KL introduces us to five tracks in various delivery formats such as Keynote, Panel Session and Presentation that cover AAA games, indie games, esports, business opportunities, technical aspects in game development and many more!

These talks will give you a chance to learn from world-class industry practitioners and leading companies that will enhance your game industry knowledge to take your work in the next level.

To set the tone of this year’s event, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Michael Mumbauer will deliver a keynote speech “Videogames: Beyond Interactive Entertainment” to share the interesting prospect of video games as the emerging trans-media revolution and how it can transform the entertainment industry in future years.

For the AAA Games Track, Larian Studios’ Spencer Low will reveal the ebb and flow of running a game studio that has developed the successful RPG series, Divinity Original Sin in his talk entitled, “Larian Studios, creators of the Divinity series – The ups and downs of an RPG studio.”

Also, Streamline Games’ Stefan Baier will be presenting “AAA Game Development in South East Asia” to discuss the rapid growth of the video games market in the Southeast Asia region. Furthermore, Microsoft’s Sam Carlisle will deliver a talk on “Ready Player 2 – Game Development Breaks Out Into the Real World”, where he will share his experience in integrating business partnership with multitude range of companies in the gaming industry.

Indie game developers and lovers don’t miss out the chance to gain an understanding to raise fund for your game by listening to a talk, “Funding Your Game: Project Financing vs. Equity Financing” by Kowloon Nights’ Keizac Lee and ushering into indie publishing on PC with Justin Ng from Gattai Games, M Iain Garner from Another Indie Studio and Shah Rizar from Kaigan Games.

Raising more than USD$600,000 to build one-of-a-kind indie RPG, Re:Legend in the Kickstart campaign, Magnus Games Studio’ DC Gan will be presenting a special talk, “Delivering on Kickstarter Promises” to further detailing the journey so far and the fruitful partnership with 505 Games in developing Re:Legend.
